This is the segment graced by the
auspicious presence of special guest lecturers who pays visit to
PUMBA and deliver their speech and share valuable
knowledge, information, experiences and enlighten the path of
the students with their valuable guidance. And for this
greatness of the guests the entire PUMBA family is
grateful to them.
Guest Lecture:
On 11th August, a guest lecture was
delivered by Mr. Sreejith Shankar on ‘THE SCIENTIFIC ASPECTS OF
MANAGEMENT IN PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY’. The lecture
introduced the concepts of Scientific Management as well as the
various aspects of the Pharmaceutical Industry Management to the
students.
It started with a brief historical overview of this industry
with respect to the time line, which included the revolutionary
discoveries of Insulin, penicillin, DNA double helical structure
to the decrease in death rates due to AIDS in the present decade
and many more. Topic like ‘Present Scenario of the Indian
Pharmaceutical Industry’ was also touched upon. Various types of
Laboratory Management were introduced along with the SWOT of the
Pharmaceutical Industry. How the advent of methodologies like
LMIS (Laboratory Management Information System) has changed the
face of pharmaceutical industry was also briefed. Topics of
utmost importance to this industry like Laboratory safety and
Waste management were also discussed. He also provided valuable
insights to the process of Drug Discovery and how a student
should mould oneself to be employable to pharmaceutical
industry.
The lecture was very much in accordance to the MBA biotechnology
course and the students were benefitted with a lot of practical
knowledge about the industry. The lecture ended with an
interactive question-answer session.
