University of Pune, aptly known as Oxford of the East, has come a long way since its establishment in 1949. During these glorious years it has continuously strived to be a leader. Recognition by the University Grants Commission (UGC) as University with Potential for Excellence as well as accreditation by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with the highest possible grading of five stars has further strengthened this position.

The Department of Management Sciences, fondly known as PUMBA (Pune University – MBA), is one of the distinguished Post-Graduate Departments of the University of Pune. It provides quality training to the students keeping them abreast with the dynamic corporate world.

The Department of Management Sciences, in line with the traditions of University of Pune, has successfully managed to interweave the corporate pre-requisites with the academic curriculum. With sincere and diligent endeavors and taking cognizance of the collective voice of the corporate, PUMBA has its fingers firmly placed on the pulse of the industry.

From academic year 2002-03, this department has introduced MBA - Biotechnology, the first program of its kind in the country, with a view to create human resources to meet the needs of the Biotechnology Industry. The course is designed to generate high quality managers with upgraded knowledge of Biotechnology.

I strongly believe that the in-depth knowledge imparted to our MBA students makes them invaluable assets to the Industry. I take this opportunity to present them to the corporate world as an important resource to be used in the interest of the Industry and for the overall industrial advancement of India.
